Drew Dudley talks about everyday leadership in his Ted talk. He tells the audience about a time that he made a huge impact on someones life without even knowing it. Finally 4 years later this person told him how much of an impact their 5 minute conversation had on her life, and he didn’t even remember the interaction. The point being that we all have moments like those, no matter how small we have made a large impact on their life maybe without even meaning to. He then encourages people to share this with others and let people know what kind of impact they had on your life.
The reason he thinks we don’t share these encounters is because we are scared to think we are that powerful. We tend to make leadership something beyond ourselves and think that it is something we one day reach instead of making it a part of our everyday lives. Making it a daily activity will start to show the value of having an impact on someones life. Not only this but recognizing that we have these moments in peoples lives and saying thank you for them.
